Our Covenant

Love is Contagious at Shiloh, Come and Catch it!

Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church is a historic, faith‑rooted congregation that has served the Barrett Station, TX community since its founding in 1876.  Over its 150‑year legacy, Shiloh has been shaped by devoted pastors, steady spiritual leadership, and a commitment to worship, unity, and service, becoming a cornerstone of the community and a lasting testament to God’s faithfulness.

Our Ministries

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you.  And I will be with you always until the end of the age.” – Matthew 28:19-20

Our purpose is to carry out the Great Commission which Jesus Christ gave to the church.  To win the unsaved by teaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ and administer the ordinances of the church.  We teach the scripture for the purpose of building Christian character and edifying this local church.

Virtual Bible Study at Shiloh
is a welcoming online gathering where the Shiloh family comes together to study Scripture, grow spiritually, and stay connected.

Our Church History

Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church was founded in 1876 under Rev. Lemuel Henry Langford Jr., beginning in a small one‑room building with a faithful few. Over the years, the church grew under a succession of devoted pastors, including Rev. Lewis Chillis, Rev. Allen, Rev. S.J. Sanders, and Rev. P.H. Brown. A major era of growth came under Rev. Wyatt Gamble, who served more than 23 years and was beloved for his humility, dedication, and tireless service, even baptizing members in the local river and canal. After his passing, Rev. G.S. Mathews became pastor, leading Shiloh for 41 years, expanding the church property, strengthening its ministries, and encouraging unity through his message “One Church, One Body.”

Following the passing of Rev. G.S. Mathews in 1995, Rev. Isreal E. Holmes was elected pastor in 1996, marking a historic moment in the church’s 120‑year history. Under Pastor Holmes’ leadership, Shiloh continues to grow spiritually as he encourages every member to use their God‑given gifts for the glory of God.
